Dredging equipment repairs  - January 2015

Jim and I attended the USACE Construction Roundtable in Cincinnati last month and were really surprised at all the dredging opportunities discussed.  It’s no secret that everyone is looking for ways to get more usable life out of their equipment and these dredging operations are no different.  Wikipedia says “ Dredging is an excavation activity or operation usually carried out at least partly underwater, in shallow seas or fresh water areas with the purpose of gathering up bottom sediments and disposing of them at a different location. This technique is often used to keep waterways navigable.”

Saudi Arabia uses their dredging equipment to make islands in the ocean.  I don’t know that I’d want to live on one of those but I’m certain the science (and footing) is solid, right?
